I have about 10 CRT monitors that I'm trying to get rid of. I heard Staples will take 'em for $10, but I haven't found anything besides a few news articles that even mention this.

It's funny you start this thread today.. I just got 11 new LCDs in my office today and I'm looking for a good way to dispose of the old CRTs.

you can try to sell them or look and see if you have a local computer recycling center. Our local gov operates one

You can have my Compaq V910 & NEC Multisync P1250+ CRTs. :)

I have a Samsung 17" and Acer 15" CRT in my driveway waiting to be thrown away. Paid big bucks for these way back when. :frown:

Yes, you have to pay them to dispose of the CRTs.

typically if i need to get rid of something i just put it in the free section of the local craigslist. People flock to free sh*t. Or if you want to be environmental i know lots of stores recycle them but usually for about $10 per monitor.

You could just dump them in some protected wetland where nobody will find them until some hippie in a canoe reefs his canoe on one or a few 3 headed fish crop up in 100 years or so.

For some reason we do not recycle, when we were moving from CRT's to LCD's we threw away about a 100 CRT's a day, now most of the people already have LCD, so its more like 5-10 thrown each day, till everyone gets LCD.

If they are usable check local schools. I have been donating PC's and monitors to a local Catholic school.
