Does your company let you cash out vacation?

Pretty good deal for me...I carried over a week my first year now each year I use one and cash out one for the vacation I will take.

I have an extra week in the 'bank', so I could in theory cash out two at a time.

The other companies I worked for had a use it or lose it policy which in my line of work was in their favor.

My last day with my company is next friday, so I'll be receiving compensation for whatever vacation I have left when I leave.

EDIT: To answer your question no they do not, but our vacation carries over from year to year. They do cap the number of days you can accrue though.

Nope. But I wouldn't even if they did. I like a break from work.

I can only do that if I leave the company. Last job, I had around $5,000 worth, but got taxed the $hit out of it, and ended around $3,000.

Only when I retire and even then it's capped at a reasonable level. They used to allow people to cash it in after reaching a certain level in the company, but stopped that policy about 20 years ago.

I am taking my vacation still...a full week.

I can technically take two weeks and still cash out one.

I can cash out at any point in the year. I don't get that many vacation days so there's no real reason for me to.

WTH is vacation? You mean PAID TIME OFF? Sheesh, not in construction...but then again, we DO get about $3.00/hr extra paid into a separate account that is called "Vacation Pay"...and gets taxed on your check when you earn it, but you still get the entire amount paid into your account.
I DID work for a public utility company for several years, and while we couln't cash out our vacation, we were allowed to roll it over, and accumulate up to 3 yrs worth on the books...THEN, if you didn't use it, you'd lose it as it accumulated...we also had the right to accumulate comp time, (work 1 hr. O.T., get 1-1/2 hr pd time off) THAT you could cash out on demand, IF they denied you the time off when you requested it.

They allow you to sell back up to one week of vacation, or buy an extra week.

But after that, you have to use it or lose it.
