Does your beard irritate you?

Every time I think about growing a beard, three days in it seems to bother me so much. I get frustrated and end up shaving it.
Thoughts?

Yes, I hate shaving and look like a serial killer if I let it grow. Woman bitch and moan about periods. They have no idea how much shaving sucks.

The first of week of not shaving is fine.
The second week is itchy.
After that is fine.

I don't notice mine if I let it grow. But my GF hates how scratchy and wirey it feels. But on the flip side she doesn't like how I look without a goa-tee. Talk about a lose lose situation.

My beard ends right under my jawline and so long as I keep my neck clean shaven it's all good. A couple days of growth on my neck and it starts getting really itchy and a bit of a rash.

I keep it trimmed pretty short though. I couldn't imagine having a Santa kinda beard. That just seems...unclean.

My faces get prickly after about 6 hours of not being shaved. My girlfriend hates that. She would much rather I have 3 days of growth because its softer for her. She doesn't like that either, I'm not gonna shave twice a day just to make her happy.

No, because instead of shaving every morning (and sometimes later on in the day too) I just trim it every so often. Speaking of which, I need to trim it again.

No way, having a beard is easier than shaving every day. My wife hates it though, so I only grow a beard when the NJ Devils are in the playoffs.

I go through phases of rugged stubble beard and fuller beard. When I go fuller, yeah, it can be annoying.

My beard never really stopped bothering me. I just got used to it. It really stopped itching about 3 weeks in, but I would always be fucking with it. It demanded constant attention. Also shaving the parts I didn't want to grow (I had a vandyke) - was a real pain in the ass.

Anyone else shave like maybe once a week? I'm 1/2 Asian so after 2 weeks I have about 1 weeks of normal growth. IE it would take me twice as long to grow a real beard (though I could unlike many Asians). I dislike shaving so I let it grow out till it starts itching. lol.

I only get a few straggler hairs on my chin and stache area, but I still have to shave every few days or else it looks really strange, just because the hair density per square inch of skin is really low. My hair grows faster than most asians, though, and my hair is thicker than most, so it's really noticeable when I do grow facial hair.

EDIT: er, but on-topic, no my beard doesn't irritate me. Because I don't get a beard.

I have beard more or less year round (shorter in the summer than the winter) When I first grew it it drove me nuts not matter the length. Now I don't even notice it. Your skin just gets used to it.

But not as much as it did my wife.

If you REALLY want to grow a beard, you have to live with the itchy-scratchy stuff for a couple of weeks...then, as it starts to grow, that goes away.

I H-A-T-E shaving daily...but I knew I'd never get hired in an office looking like that.
(it's discrimination I tell ya...maybe I should sue! :p)

I find shaving to be annoying, but I'm pretty sure (some) women shave too.

Yeah - I grow one yearly for winter and there is always the couple of weeks of irritation and then it goes away.
