Does you @SS hurt after buying a V5?

i bought a V5 5500. I ran 3DMark 2000. I got scores ranging from 710 to as high as 3394. All depending on settings. If I downgrade the settings to that of a V3, then I get performance. If I turn it up in order to compete against a GeForce2 Gts 64 mb, then I get such unplayable fps that i am disgusted by it.

i don't think the image quality is there either. I read all these reviews about how the V5 has better looking 4x FSAA when compared to the GF2, yet I look at the GF2 on the same brand and model monitor and it looks and plays all-around better.

Am I missing something here or do I just demand too much from a $300 retail card?

If anyone knows of something in the settings I didn't set right, please drop me a line.

Thanks.

In UT I range from 25 to 45 fps depending on map and such. I can stare at a wall and watch the number twitch like a beaten gopher at 84.99. I think that is the max of my 700 Athlon. Not sure on that one. I was just wondering why a GF2 GTS looks and runs so much better than mine. Might have to switch.

Theres something wrong with your system, with a V3 3000 on a 800mhz CII system, I get 60fps in 1024x768 in the timedemo.

That's what I am figuring. The first thing I did was went to a V5 tweaking page and changed a few things around. That helped a lot. I haven't had time to properly give it a work-out since making the adjustments, so I will post again what I have discovered.

What OS are you running? Have you installed the latest 4-in-1 drivers? 25 to 45 in UT seems way to low for a V5 5k.

I installed the latest beta drivers for my V5 from 3dfxgamers. They helped with a few D3D problems I had with other games, but didn't increase much on my part. I am pulling around 50 fps with a couple of bots around. 60-70 when no one isnear me in UT. I think tweaking it out helped alot. I turned Vsync off for D3D. That helped my fps go up quite a bit.
