does yahoo still charge for the free email?

A while back yahoo started charging for their 'free' email. Well, the sucker that I am, and for other reasons, I paid up for a one year subscription. It still says on their page, however, that the email is free. Not only that, but I have not received the extra space in the email box, and they still put that yahoo signiture on the outbound email.

I'm a little concerned that I got ripped off, or that I am not doing something right, so I am posting this to see if anyone has anything to say on the subject.


edit: I see the problem, I paid for the pop access(meaning that you can access it through outlook, etc.). It all makes sense now 🙂 I still feel ripped off though..

Yahoo! Mail -- uhhhhhh, it has always been free, still is. There have been services for the last few years where you can get a custom domain email name or have a larger mailbox (in amount of storage area it has)

i've got a 6 meg free e-mail through them

never asked me to pay (except if i want more than 6 megs of storage)
