My secondary system's power supply died I think(Smoke came from it and now when I turn it on not even the PS fan comes on)was thinking about getting a case that included this.

I have built 2 computers with an Xcase pwr supply.

Both were 500w, however, the first one had 2 fans, and the second one was smaller with 1 fan.

The 2 fanned pwr supply worked fine.

THe single fan also worked, but I had major problems with the system. I ended up having to RMA the mobo, and the RAM. No one thought that the pwr supply would be the culprit, everyone thought it was just a bad motherboard. Well the jury is still out on that one. I don't know what the problem actually was.

Though, I bought an Antec 350w, so when I get the new board and RAM, I won't have any doubt in the back of my mind, as to if it was the pwr supply or not.

My advice is to buy a good brand, the extra money will result in peace of mind.

Due to budgetary constraints I cannot splurge for an expensive name brand one. They have the 2-fanned one for 2 bucks more. I will see if I can upgrade it.

Nitemare I cannot implore you enough not to buy a $16.00 PSU. There's a reason that thing is so inexpensive because it's light as a feather and made with inferior parts. Also I would bet you that is doesn't actually achieve its rated 500W.

Try looking at
these Fortrons at Newegg. They are inexpensive and a known, reliable name. You will get a longer lasting more reliable PSU for only a little more money. Yes, they aren't rated 500W but brand name PSUs are prone to UNDERrate their wattage rather than overrate like the cheap ones. A 300W -350W should still power your rig fine unless you are running an above average amount of fans, lights, etc. Plus these things are as heavy as a brick.

Think about how you could have Murphq's problems and avoid them by spending about $10.00 more.

LOL...I have to be the naysayer again :D Ok, I happened to have recently bought a windowed case for the case itself and not the PSU but it came with that model. I took it out and put in my Antec. Later I put the Powmax in my kid's machine (for some reason I do not recall) and I had some problems with it. So again I have to say nooo spend only a bit more and get something else!

Ok, I did a little more checking and at Newegg you can get a Forton, Sparkle or Enlight in the slightly above $20 dollar range. They are all good brands. Check them out!

Nitemare never heard of them. I assure you a brand name 350W PSU will run all of that with no problems. Are you getting tired of me beating the brand name PSU thing to death yet? ;)

The name brand ones on newegg are over 30 by the time you add shipping. Right now I am leaning towards the Okia 550 watt for 24 with free shipping. I have to do some digging first. I will let you know what I decide on
