does wireless charging kill your battery?

So i've had my note 4 near a year. I always loved the battery life and got a wireless charging insert and dock right away. I've had it on my S4 as well.

About 2 months ago i've noticed a huge problem. My phone would tell me it had 40% battery life and once it dropped to 39%, it would reboot. Sometimes after the reboot it would say 39%, 18% or 0%. This would happen almost everytime it got to 40%. I dont know if it happened longer then 2 months. I rarely drain it the battery that much. Most days 50% lasts 8-10hours on very light usage. But now it seemed like my battery life only lasted 10 hours.

I ordered up a new battery, OEM like on amazon. And instantly no more 40% issues and i get 16+ hours on a full charge.

Now i'm just wondering if the wireless charger killed it. The phone got hot while charging, maybe not hot but VERY warm to say the least. So i'm thinking heat was the cause.
 
I suspect it's more likely a defective battery.

On a related note, after about two and a half years, I'm starting to have similar battery issues with my Moto X - though it's more around the 10-15% mark than 40. I love this phone, but I wish I'd have had an option with a removable battery; It still has tons of useful life left, otherwise.
 
No problems with wireless charging here either. As Yuriman said, suspect battery issue.

Question though: does it do this behavior charging wired?
 
There's one thing that might be a concern. Wireless charging does tend to generate more heat (especially if you're using the phone at the same time) which can negatively affect your battery.

You didn't hear? Batteries are super awesome now, and will last as long as you want the phone(as long as you don't want it more than a year or two). Expendable parts that are replaceable is so 2013. You need to get with the times.
 
OP, this sounds a lot like what was happening with my Note4. However, I've noticed since Verizon finally rolled out the 5.1 update that issue seems to have gone away....for now.

Anyway, I doubt wireless charging is the issue. The charging rate is slower than fast charging (which I believe is rough on the cells).
 
Been wirelessly charging both my S5 and Note5 since new when they launched. Not a single issue with battery for either.
 
Yes a feature that a manufacturer built into the phone kills your battery, quick charging also kills your battery... only painfully slow trickle charging does the trick.

Wireless charging isn't built into the Note 4. Its easily added via 3rd party though.

But no, it doesn't kill batteries. Been wirlessly charging my Note 4 for half a year now, no problems what-so-ever.

Once again, a great thing about easily swappable batteries; something goes wrong with one (as seems to be the case here) then replace it, cheap and hassle free.

I've been rooted for least 8 months so i have had numerous ROMS and the newer stuff before official releases. I even made sure it wasn't OS by going back to 5.0 roms and 5.1.1 stuff.

Fast charge was almost at a 2000mA speed vs wireless charing was at a 700mA. Normal chargers was around 1000mA

Like i said never has issues with the S4. But i did change up chargers and noticed the phone more warm then normal. It could be the battery. The note4 might be one of the newest phones that still has removable battery and storage for a GSM network.
