i've got a question about winxp, is it true that winxp detects other pirated windows(office, etc) products on your computer, then informs microsoft of your ip and address? also, does it send all your credit card and personal info to the microsoft.

i just don't want to wake up one day and answer my door to see a bunch of dudes in black suits. :Q

or maybe i should stick with win98 🙂
 
Activation does not require you to give MS any credit card information. The activation just creates a hash code of your computers hardware. Nothing to worry about unless you have pirated hardware 🙂

No it doesn't do any of the things you said above!

Even if it did, I seriously doubt you would wake up one morning to see a bunch of dudes in black suits. I think corporations like MS have much bigger fish to fry than individuals pirating office suites.
