Does WinXp need Aspi Drivers?

I just did a fresh format for my new system. Usually I d/l the newest aspi drivers after i install all the cdr programs. But this time i didn't and i'm currently using nero and everything is burning fine! I guess you really don't need them?

I used aspi check and it said it wasn't installed correctly*

Nero has its own type of "aspi" so it doesn't need the files but almost all other burning programs still do(that i know of).
