Does Windows Xp Pro support Raid mode 1

Only if your Raid controller is supported by windows.

Check with the manufacturer of the controller for that.

If you are talking about software Raid, I believe WinXP Pro can handle it, but I have never used it.

The client versions of windows (XP pro/home and Windows 2000 pro) do not support redudant forms of software RAID. So XP will not do RAID-1 in software, but like MCrusty said you can do it with hardware.

Microsoft makes you pay for the server version of Windows if you want redundant versions of software RAID, i.e. RAID 1, RAID 5, etc.

Let say that I want to use this board that has a sata raid controller. Thinkin of buying this board. I will get two sata drive to use. I need this computer to mirror data as I need some data protection.

I want to use it in raid 1 which I assumed I would put the raid drivers from the MB cd to a floppy when installing XP. Before that I assume the raid controller for the motherboard has a utility to set up the raid. (So should I assume this the hardware way. I didn't even know that an OS was capable of building an array).

I have done this before. I also have an Asus K8V deluxe board on a current computer which runs Raid mode 0. I have never set up Raid 1 and didn't know if the OS would limit this in anyway and wanted to make sure I didn't need a server OS.

It looks like the embedded RAID controller on that motherboard supports RAID-1 (at least according to Newegg's site). If that's the case then yes you can do RAID 1.

Just like everyone here has said multiple times Windows itself will not support software RAID but if the controller does support it (and the one you have posted does) than you can do it with the controller and its utilities.
