Does Windows Update still work with Windows 98?

Support for W98/SE is supposed to end sometime this year (Just looked it up. Security patches end Jan. 16, 2004. I assume that you will no longer be able to do Auto Update after then - well you probably can but either there won't be anything there for you or maybe a message re. end of product life). Support for Win NT and IE5 and IE6 w/SP1 ends at the same time
. Thinking about going to W2k for my minimal Win uses as I can get it cheaper than XP and it doesn't require so much hardware. Or maybe just cold-turkey M$ wares entirely.
