Does Windows server OSes "marry" themself to the motherboard?

Any operating system you use is configured for the hardware on which it runs. When you place that operating system into a new hardware environment, you're going to need to reconfigure your operating system. This is not unique to Windows 2003.

How different is your new system from your old system? The worst case scenario is that you may need to run a repair install of Windows in order for it run in the new machine.
