If so, how do I get there? Can I install from safe mode?

I am trying to install a program (ACR Chest learning file) that reports it needs to install the latest database and OLE components and that it may need to reboot 2 or 3 times during install. After 8 (8!!!) reboots the program crashed out (BSOD). Now every time I boot up the installer tries to run.

I was hoping that installing in safe mode might allow it to update the OLE system files.

You say the installer keeps coming up. Is it WinME installer or the chess installer? If your just trying to get your system back up and running try this:
Insert your WinME emergency startup disk. You can choose either to have CD or not to have it. When the "A" prompt comes up type "scanreg" without the quotes. If your registry is screwed up then scanreg will automatically reinstall one of your earlier registries. WinME makes a backup of your registry quite freguently, so if you screwup your registry by installing something that corrupts it, you can go back and put a "good" registry in place. Hope this helped you.
