Does windows keep track of file access history past the few listed??

can't you go into windows explorer and then see the last time it was accessed?

actually it does, in the MRU sections of your registry (most recently used)

there is a program called ListZapper which can clear those out for you automatically if you aren't a big fan of manually working in the registry..

Which Windows version? Also, if he drag and drops into media player instead of double-clicking then it won't show.

Look in c:\documents and settings\USER NAME\recent

and pretty much any non-program item that has been double clicked will be listed in there. Even zip files ;)
