Trying to decide on P4 or Celeron D.

Why 98? Legacy turnkey solution.

Anything that supports 2 cpu's will support HT, windows 95,98, and ME will not. Windows XP/2k/2k3 will. I dont think I need to mention that windows 1.0-3.1 will also not work.

EDIT
this is not to say that it wont work, it just wont Hyperthread. The P4 will still beat the crap out of that Cellery

I tried installing the turnkey in both W2KPro and XP Pro and it failed to function. In fact I believe it should work in either of the two advanced OS options but I blame my own lack of understanding for that failure. If anyone can direct me to the proper subject matter I promise I will read it.

Dude, thanks. Just one more possible problem I'd prefer to avoid. It can be a bit difficult finding an Intel cpu today that runs below 2.1GHz. Unless I underclock the Celeron D, it's out.
I do have an AXP here in an ECS board but I was trying to avoid possible incompatibility problems with the Applica add-in card which I was guessing was atleast tested with Intel hardware.

Why dont you simply upgrade to 2000 or XP? 98 is not worth it anymore, and ME was never worth it.
