Does Windows 2000 have ClearType? If not can I download & install it?

Hi everyone,

Win XP is a bit too much for my system, so I'm thinking of going back to W2K.

Does anyone know about W2k and ClearType?

I've grown to loooove this enhancement, and can't imagine going back.

Thank you 🙂

At one time, I looked for ClearType for 2k and found nothing. 🙁

Here's a bump hoping someone has the answer we want to hear 😀

I'm pretty sure that people have asked about this before and the answer has always been "no."

On another forum, it was suggested that you take a look at FreeType. It's an open source project.

Is XP too much for your system if you turn off all of the UI features (aside from the ClearType that you want)? I would think that putting it in Classic mode would make it run pretty much like W2K does.

thanks for all the suggestions and replies guys 🙂

I've turned off all the GUI features, but I still feel as if Windows is running too many things in the background, and the system does seem to 'think' more than it should. I dunno I have a 650 mhz, 256 mb ram, and a 4 mb neomagic graphics card in my Dell Latitude laptop. It should be enough but we all know WinXP is demanding.

It is a myth that XP is more demanding than 2000. Sure, it can be at default settings but does not have to be. Also disable the indexing service and system restore.
