Does Window Media Player 7 support .avi files?

.avi is just a file extension which could be any video format other than MPEG, so yes, it supports it, provided you have the codec to view that particular type of file.
 
Yes it does support AVI. If the AVI's a DIVX though, you need to get the Divx codec, which used to be here but its not working for me ATM
