does winamp 2.91 support the id3v2 GAIN tag?

I normalized all my mp3s with MP3Gain, which sets the GAIN tag in the file's id3v2 tag, instead of reencoding it. does winamp 2.91 use the GAIN tag?

foobar shows the info.

right click and show info

or

find a playlist format that shows the replaygain info.

just remembered about this thread again...
is there any way to get winamp to use them, like a plugin or something. I searched for plugins on winamp.com, but maybe there's something I don't know about somewhere else.

what's the best way to make use of the gain tag right now?

Try the Tomsteady program that I linked in the post above. It normalizes mp3s as you play them. No reencoding.

ok, I'll try that, but I thought mp3 gain was supposed to have superior avg volume approximation to anything else. also, with tomsteady does it recalculate the normalization every time (seems like this would be quite faulty), or does it save a gain tag the mp3 and then read it and use it next time it plays?
