Does Win98 support USB 2.0?

I have an MSI 845 Ultra ARU on the way, mainly for gaming, and want to put 98 on there for total compatibility (even with the cheapo $10. titles out there..) It has USB 2.0 and I keep reading about loading the 2.0 driver from MS, but haven't seen it on their site. I assume it is already in 2000 and XP, but if 98 can use it I sure I have to download something to update it.

Any suggestions/answers? TIA for any help!

I don't think so. I was reading somewhere that USB 2.0 support is only currently planned for Windows XP. I may be wrong, but thats what Microsoft says is the OS they will be supporting it on.

According to the MSI mob manual, "..USB 2.0 support is provided by MS for Windows 2000 and XP.." Which lead me to start questioning whether or not 98 supported it. I may haveto put 2k on this sys when I build it. Not so great for older games..

Anybody else, confirmations? allegations? help?

Well now I'm not so sure that 98 doesn't support 2.0. I was just looking at maxtor's site for RAID info when i noticed they have a pci USB 2.0 card that had drivers downloadable for it wand it listed 98SE as one of the OS' it ran on... SO...

How 'bout it, anybody confirm or deny USB 2.0 on Win98?

win98 doesn't natively support usb2 but AFAIK, a couple of manufacturers have put out drivers for that OS which they supply with their usb2 card!

Personally, I've seen USB2.0 drivers for Win98SE for the external Plextor CDRW 24_10_40 and the external Freecom CDRW 24_10_40. As bacillus said Windows 98se doesn't support natively USB2.0 (meaning that it probably won't autodetect such USB version) but it can surely allow a third party driver to use with a specific device.
