Does win2k Advanced server Pro have an internal firewall? it acts like it I need help to disable port 113 in it.
I can get through an open port 113 in my router's hardware Firewall, with win98 and am permited to log on to servers for Dalnet on IRC. Using a linc of Mirc from win2k ASP (Advanced Server Pro,)I cannot log on and Dalnet gripes the same gripe it did b4 I opened poert 113 on my router for IRC. Opening port 113 on the router for win2k ASP and installing a Mirc in win2k or using the link from win98 Mirc partition to MIRC neither one can get in to Dalnet.
so the Mirc settings are correct that is a certainty!. the port 113 is open for the new IP issed to win2k ASP by my router. I therefore can only assume there is yet a 2nd software firewall inside of 3win2k AQSP and I do not know how to open port 113 in it.

If I could get on IRC I could eliminate windows 98 and just use win2k simplifying my system. I only use win98 for Mirc but because I use Mirc often I have to install most of my working files into win98 and use win2k ASP for Video editing only, instead of using win2k exclusively!!

I dislike the instalation of win2k from inside of win98 and creating compounded headaches that just keep growing...

I sencerly hope somone knows the win2k advance server pro
well enough to help me...

my hunch and it is a hunch is that the new version I just read about from the link u posted is a better more featured Firewall "...multilayered Firewall..." and that there has to be a firewall or something like it to open port 113. It acts like it...

I downloaded the presentation on the new firewall multilayering and cash and from what I read and heard in it it has stronger new features but truely since I have a server installed it more than not is likely to have a firewall now the question is how to get controll of it...
