😕 Does Windows 98 support 64 mb graphics cards? I have built my first system and can not get my 64 mb pci or my 64 mb agp card to work with an asus p4s333 motherboard. I can use a 32 mb pci card and a 8 mb agp card that I have and they work. Any suggestions thanks.
My systen
asus p4s333 motherboard
1.8 ghz p4
256 pc2100 Kinston Ram
32mb ge force 200 video card

My 64mb GeForce3 Ti200 works just fine with Win98. It's not the OS, Sounds like you are haveing a hardware issue. Please explain what you mean by not working. Not working correctly, Or won't even boot with it installed.

The monitor acts like it isn't receiving a signal from the tower (blank screen and led on monitor stays orange instead of going to green). The 32mb pci card or the 8mb agp card work fine in the system but when I play C&C Generals only the 32mb pci works and then rather slowly.

Deffinitely a hardware issue, But can't think of any good reasons or where to look at the moment. Will keep thinking about it though. Got me stumped.

Thanks for your input. Tried asus helpdesk, entered full system parts and model numbers, detailed desription of problem. Had to disassemble to get part of the info. All I got was a generic reply and gereric suggestions. Is there a motherboard manufacturer with better service?

What Vid card do you have(The AGP 64mb one. Give make, model, brand, etc.)? Can you even get to the BIOS screen with the 64mb card in it? Have you tried clearing the BIOS and then trying the 64mb card?

Mad Dog Predator MX440 8x/4x. On the box it also says nvidia g force4 mx440 . Monitor doesn't come on at all. Cleared bios and then added card. Reloaded windows. Was thinking about loading latest bios for the board.

The agp card is brand new. I don't have another system that it will fit. I also tried a PNY Verto MX 440-SE 64mb pci card that is only 4 months old. Same as the agp card (nothing) I used the 32mb pci card because I don't get a display with either 64mb card. I set the bios on agp and still nothing happened. I know the PNY 64mb pci card works because I am using it on my E-Machines because I don't have a modem installed in the other system. The E-Machines does not have an agp slot.

I would take the mainboard back to where you got it and either get another one of the same or a different board alltogether. Something is deffinitely whacked.
