does watching a dvd off hdd save battery much?

if you copy the dvd over to hdd on a laptop, will it extend battery life much? or would you get same savings from spinning down hdd and watching off of dvd disc?

Look up the power consumption of your hard drive and your DVD drive. That'll tell you the answer. I'm guessing that the hard drive will be far better.
