Does VGA cable limit bandwidth compared to DVI?

My primary monitor is an LCD but I am thinking of picking up a CRT monitor real cheap (for second monitor)

So if I wanted to play something like Crysis on this CRT @ lower resolutions would the VGA input be a bottleneck with something like a HD4770 or HD4830 video card?

What I am asking is will a DVI to VGA adapter reduce the maximum performance of my GPU?

There is only a problem with VGA/Analog at real high resolutions where you need dual link DVI like 2560x1920.

CRT and VGA work well together. They are both analog. The real problem is when you connect vga to a lcd. If they don't match phase correctly you can get artifacts that get worse as the resolution increases.

The DVI connectors on modern videocards are DVI-I which contains a normal VGA signal. It's just like having a VGA connector but in a differant shaped plug. Maximum performance of the GPU will remain the same.
