Does using a faster RPM harddrive on laptop drains battery faster?

I'm thinking of upgrading the harddrive on an older laptop? If I replace a 5400 rpm harddrive with a 7200 rpm one does it drain the laptop battery faster?
Thanks for any help.

Not really. Unless you have less than 2 hrs battery time on a full charge you'll hardly notice it.

You'll have to look at the specs for each drive, the 7200 RPM may actually use less power than the 5400RPM drive.

I have read similar stuff on the SFF/NoteBook forum...
