Does UPS tracking usually never update?

I've been tracking a package since Monday that still says:

Sunnyvale, CA 10/23/2006 9:23PM Departure Scan

Does UPS tracking usually never update when the package is at a new location, like FedEx?

It has been my experiance that UPS is much slower at updating and getting things scanned than FedEx. Also, it depends on how long the trip is. Where is it shipping to from CA?
