Does uploading to your FTP generally count as bandwidth usage?

Bandwidth is only used when a user is downloading from your site, so no.
Downloading from the FTP also counts (at least for me). I just wasn't sure about uploading ..

Yeah, any downloading whether it be through FTP or http is part of your monthly allocated bandwidth. You can upload as much as you want.

what host is this?

Server->Client (download)
Client->Server (upload)
Me->Server (ftp upload)
Server->Me (ftp download)

these usually all count. only stuff like email dont count toward bandwidths...

go look at your hosts policies and check whether the quota applies to traffic or transfers

I'll have to ask my friend about .. I'm wondering because I had 80MB of FTP bandwidth usage yesterday but only one person has access to my FTP and she didn't download anything yesterday. Does cPanel have some sort of FTP log? I can't find it under web / FTP stats.
