does underclocking lower temps?

if i underclocked my cpu, which is 1.2 right now, will it run cooler if i ran it at 1 ghz? if so, how much of a difference would i see?

I underclocked my Duron 800 to 650 and lowered the core voltage, I think to 1.5v and it ran substantially cooler. I can't remember the temps, but it made a big difference, not that I left it like that for long.
Try it and let us know what you find.

Yes it will, especially if you lower the core voltage to say 1.6V or lower. I ran my 1.2Ghz @ 1.2Ghz 1.6V and that alone knocked 5C off the load temp...
