Does TrueImage work OK with SSD's?

Got a new OCZ Vertex (G2) SSD and did a clean install of Win7x64 Ultimate with latest updates, apps, etc. I let W7 install to the raw drive space so the alignment should be good. Benchmarks indicate the SSD is running at the speeds it should.

I then used the Acronis boot CD (2010 Home) to make a backup image of both C: and the 100MB hidden partition. After the image was created and verified successfully, Win7 would not boot. It would just hang at the "Starting Windows". Repair attempts did the same thing.

I think it was just a coincidence, but I'm not so sure. :\

Ended up doing a sanitary erase and a clean OS install. Any reason why I shouldn't try to image again or will it likely do the same thing again?

I have absolutely no problem using Acronis TrueImage Workstation and Home 2010 with Windows 7 in 4 of my machines with SSD.

works great for me. well...as great as Acronis can work. I have tons of issues with backup archives, but it's not related to the SSD.

Is it recommended to do a 1:1 image of the SSD drive? In other words, if my boot/OS partition is 60GB then I need to image the whole drive. Previously, I would only image the data in use (in my case roughly 15-20GB).

Also, I always do my imaging outside of the OS using the rescue CD. I've NEVER done an image within Windows. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with that method -- mine is just a holdover from the days when you had to run Norton Ghost from a floppy. 🙂

I'm just trying to figure out what, if anything, I did wrong that would cause the OS to not boot. Maybe I'll try it with TI 2009 Home.
