Does Time.Gov work for you?

JEDI

Lifer
I'm getting a red 'X' when i try to get the time.

error:
Caused by: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.

I have the latest Java.

Is Time.Gov working for you?

To help you with some more alternatives, here are the sites that I use for that:

Time Servers

Protocol is SNTP and prot number is 123 for all these:

time.ucla.edu
tick.ucla.edu
montpelier.caltech.edu
tock.usnogps.navy.mil
ntp-2.mcs.anl.gov
ntp.nasa.gov

Here are some more, for reference, although I don't use these:

clock.isc.org (Palo Alto, CA)
clock.sgi.com (Mountain View, CA)
clock.via.net (Palo Alto, CA))
gpstime.trimble.com (Sunnyvale, CA)
montpelier.ilan.caltech.edu (California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA)
nist1.aol-ca.truetime.com (Sunnyvale, California)
nist1.datum.com (San Jose, California)
nist1-sj.glassey.com (San Jose, California)
ntp-cup.external.hp.com (Cupertino CA)

tick.gpsclock.com (Redondo Beach, CA)
timekeeper.isi.edu (USC Information Sciences Institute, Marina del Rey, CA)
tock.gpsclock.com (Redondo Beach, CA)
usno.pa-x.dec.com (Palo Alto, CA)
navobs1.usnogps.navy.mil (Falcon AFB, Colorado)
navobs2.usnogps.navy.mil (Colorado)
time-a.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov (NIST Boulder Laboratories, Boulder, Colorado)
time-b.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov (ditto)
time-c.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov (ditto)
time-d.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov (ditto)
time.nist.gov National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, Colorado)

Search out sites physically close to you & use those. Nearby universities, military or NOAA places, etc. Time's a-wastin!

I think you typically have to set your computer's time to within 1 hour of the actual time for it to synch properly.. at least, I know it's that way with XP's built-in time synch.

now it's working (java).

Musta been the site since i didnt make any changes on my machine. (just got home since I created this thread.)

Thats really odd. MS time when you put it right beside the time.gov time goes something like

MS 20 time.gov 21
MS 21 time.gov 22
MS 22 time.gov 22
MS 23 time.gov 22
MS 23 time.gov 23
MS 23 time.gov 24

It passes it, than goes back behind it, anyone know why? You can only catch it out of your peripheral visions by trying to watch them both change.

MS time is horribly out of sync. I sync all of our client's servers to the navy time every time I build one.
