Does those IBM/Linux commercials with mini-Eminem annoy anyone else?

For some reason, those commercials annoy the hell out of me. Why the hell are they using Eminem (his likeness more specifically) to push Linux servers? Because they want to draw in the hip-hop crowd? 😕

another referrer ... The only relation I see it having to Marshall Mathers is the color of his hair. WTF does hip hop have to do with it ? I don't think IBM spent any money to bring the hip hop crowd closer to IT or Linux. You're reaching.

What is annoying is the fact that you actually have to think while watching this. TV and thinking don't go together.

i find their propaganda machine funny, the open child is a blond hair blue eyed boy and they are totally appealing to all the people who want to take back something that was never taken from them, choice. the whole thing is a bit too pinko for my taste.

MS Office commercials are funny... but that's all they are. Sit back and learn. 😉

It's nothing the kid does really, all he does in the commercials is sit in a chair. But I hardly doubt it's some coincidence that the little kid not only looks like Eminem, but he also dresses like him as well. I just don't get the point of it.............

What annoys me in the MS commercial with the kid playing piano on the table. WTF does that have to do with MS at all?

I went to a focus group back in Spring 2003 where they showed me that advertisement and then subjected me to a 45 minute 1-on-1 interview. I told them it reminded me a bit of AI and Big Brother, although I did admit I thought the ads were pretty intriguing and well done.

In summary, I may or may not be one of the reasons you are now subjected to "mini-Eminem".

I think LINUX fans would love the commercial....
