looking at getting a netgear MA401 wireless card for the laptop, and a Netgear MR814 router. My question is this, I have ethernet connection to the internet at my apartment, does this router fit my needs? Will it just plug into the ethernet jack with a normal cat5 cable and work just fine? Or will it just accept cable/dsl connections and I would need to buy an access point instead? From the spec-sheet, it looks like it has ethernet port for uplink. Any help would be appreciated, because I would like to order this tonight, thanks!!

Oh, here is the specsheet -

The Amazon Deal? Great price after rebate.

Within one humble apartment, it will be OK.

It is a combo you do not need to buy any thing else.

The Wireless part of the Router is on your side of the Router and has nothing to do with the nature of the input.

You need to know what is the nature of the Ethernet input to your apartment.

If you do not know ask the management whether it will fit the WAN input of a Cable/DSL Router.

The Entry Level Routers are designed to be connected to Cable or DSL modem.

If the input is already Routed with private IP to your apartment you probably will be able to plug it to a regular port on the Router, and use it Wired or Wireless but only with one computer since you would not have local Routing.
