Does this watch make my wrist look fat?

So, my wife bought me this for my 50th birthday. I was going to buy myself a nice watch when my sister sold my Dad's record collection but that hasn't happened yet and truthfully, I was kind of bummed about that. I wanted to buy myself the watch with the proceeds to remember him by but my sister has an emotional connection to this junk and she thinks it is worth more than the one or two offers she's had on it. She's been hauling it around for 7 years now and hasn't done anything with it.

Anyway, my wife knew about my plans and she supported the idea so when nothing happened she bought me this for my birthday. I was so shocked and stunned by this gesture. I have the best wife. At first I was a little self-conscious wearing it but then I said screw it. It's just a watch. Nobody really notices them anyway.

I'm very happy with it. It is extremely accurate, only lost a couple seconds in the past month. It is a beautiful watch and I love the two tone with the blue face and bezel.

Yes, I'm now officially an old man. Looking forward to my retirement years...

Too much gold for my personal tastes, but as with most things, it's really how you like it.

I don't get it, it doesn't look that watch does simple addition, or am I missing something? does the bezel flip up to reveal the calculator?

Imagine how often I would have to replace the batteries if it had a calculator!

Nice Submariner! Looks good. I don't see a lot of people wearing watches these days unless it's made by Apple. Divers are my favorite and will be picking up an Omega Seamaster in the future.

I like them too. I looked at Omegas about a year or so ago but many of them you cannot take in the water and they don't seem to hold their value as well either. Nice watches though.

I took mine to Maui last month and did some snorkeling in the ocean with it. This was at Molokini crater with my son and his friend. I also looked at the Deep Sea Dweller. That watch is incredibly cool. Waterproof to 4,000' deep and it has a helium escape valve! Mine is only waterproof to 1,000' deep but that's way deeper than I'll ever take it.

You were on vacation; why wear a watch?

Also, the ocean floor has shag carpeting? Who knew?

You know, for dinner reservations and stuff. ;)

I really wanted to take it in the ocean. I went in many times and it was on my wrist the whole time.

Looks nice. I like the color combo. Is that real gold or just plated color?

Vacation is about the only time I regularly wear a watch. If I'm at the beach or the pool swimming, I don't have my phone so I can't check for time. So I wear a divers watch when I'm on vacation.

Rolex uses a combination of 904L steel and 18 ct yellow gold on their bracelets; it is that color throughout the band so it can be polished back to its high luster and will never "wear off" like gold plated watch bands will.

There's no way I'd wear a $7000 watch into the ocean no matter how waterproof it's supposed to be. Expensive jewelry ain't my thing but if you enjoy it, well that's why they make them. Wear it in good health, Jules.

Cool! I haven't had a digital in years. I think only 2 that have batteries, a Casio GShock and Seiko Solar...just about all of my watches are automatics now and one engraved pocket watch my wife got me last year. I enjoy wearing and collecting them.

Why not? It's a dive watch and it is certified to 1000ft/300m (it says this right on the face of the watch). Plus, Rolex pressure tests every watch to the certified depth pressure so I wasn't concerned at all. It spent a few hours in the ocean on my vacation but all of it was within a few feet of the surface.

What concerns would you have?
