does this sound like a power supply problem?

My computer has been acting weird. When i try starting it up, from complete shutdown, it like stalls, you can here everything running, and the video card seems to be running at max fan...and nothing happens, nothing will come on the screen. but then if you hit the reset button, the same thing will happen for a brief few seconds and then it will start up fine. windows vista works fine and everything runs smoothly.

Another problem is as well the computer doesn?t overclock anymore. Whenever i try to overclock it even to 2.5 or 2.6 it will reset midway of loading vista. Before my computer worked totally fine...what is exactly happening now..I?m confused..

i posted this on a cpu overclocking form and one reader told me it might be an psu problem. i am also worried about that as well. asking if you guys have any input on the matter. thanks.

Well it could be alot of things, but the Corsair 520hx is a good PSU to have. This doesn't mean that you don't have a PSU, but the possibility that you do is somewhat diminished due to the quality of the PSU.
* My first thought was that maybe you have an issue with the one of your front panel connectors (Power/Reset/HDD LED/power LED). My initial thought would be the "Power" button is hanging somehow. Normally the power button just closes a circuit on the mobo, but maybe it isn't doing this correctly.
* My next thought would be to double check that the CPU and CPU HSF are mated up correctly. Usually if the CPU is overheating, it'll shut the system down and not start up correctly. You'll need some extra thermal paste to re-apply the CPU HSF correctly.
* Another thought is maybe your mobo has/had issues and is finally going!! This would make some sense with other issues that you are seeing. I just got done with TS (troubleshooting) a mobo that was getting all of the correct voltages, but wouldn't boot up. Found that the mobo had gone south and when it was replaced, everything worked out.
* It's possible that your PSU has issues supplying the correct or stable power to your computer, but I'm not sure if that is the case. Do you have another PSU to rule out that variable??

There are other things you can do to check other parts on the mobo, but that is where I would start. If you can't OC or are having with the system starting correctly, that to me points to the mobo or possible memory issue. The memory issue doesn't seem likely either, so it's not something that I'd look at this time.
