Does this seem a bit weird to anyone but me?

Update: We went to dinner tonight... we had a nice time, food was only ok, they made a fool out of my brother (but he had fun)! The girls working there were very nice, although i never understood why i didn't want to go in the first place. I guess when i was younger, i thought the girls there were a lot hotter (like "OMG i want to turn lesbian" hot). Not saying they were not cute, they were, but i was not uncomfortable at all. I got an application, but i would be a sh!tty waitress

I guess i will say... the food was not worth the money but it was fun.

Today is my little brothers 21st birthday.
In celebration of this milestone in his life, my dad wants to celebrate by taking him and myself, hubby and my step mom out for dinner tomorrow night.

Nothing wrong with that... except the place he wants to take his family is Hooters.

Now, i have no issues with the establishment in general, but the weird thing is that my dad keeps asking if we (hubby and I) are going to be there or not... almost in a weird way, like he is begging us to go.

So, would you feel comfortable in a situation like this? i.e... your dad inviting you, your s/o your mom and sibling to Hooters?

I think we are going to go, but i just find it a bit odd for a family outting.

No, I wouldn't feel comfortable and I wouldn't go. Dad is not going to hooters for the food.

Just tell him you're a little uncomfortable about the restaurant (and I use that term loosely) then suggest another place.

Edit-One that actually serves decent food perhaps?

I've been to 3 different Hooters. If it isn't the food, there's nothing else going on.

Ugh.

It's not a big deal, you'll see far more skin walking down the street in any collage town.

I would politely refuse and take my brother out myself someplace else at another time, with a bit more taste and class, to celebrate his accomplishments.

well, i want to be comfortable with it... but, to be honest, i do not think the food is that great either... and i haven't been there in years but i am sure most of the waitresses are probably younger than i as well. i don't know why i just feel a bit "funky" about this!

Also, my brother did not suggest going here, my dad did.

It wouldn't bother me, though I do think it is kind of an odd choice for a birthday dinner.

The funny thing is... my step mom does not even care that her husband (my dad) wants to go here so badly. I give her credit for not caring... and its just a restaurant with girls in double push-up bras and orange shorts with panty hose underneath :D

I could post an ignorant joke right now, but I won't.

kudos to your mom, that's for sure. As for you, just tell them you're not comfortable with it.

I'm sure he likes the food and the great service...lol.

Kudos to her. I would slap him just for mentioning it.

There are only two places I go for entertainment with my food.
Shoguns, and Medieval Times.

Bull! Hooters has the best wings. My wife and I went to Hooters for our 8th(?) anniversary dinner because SHE wanted to go there. It was HER idea and I was okay with it because AI really enjoy their wings.

Back in january, my nephew celbrated his 18th birthday there. My mom, my sister/his mom, my other 2 nephews (12 & 14 at the time, i think), my wife and I and our 5 kids all went. My kids were 8, 7, 5, 2 and 14 months at the time. Hooters is fine for a family outing.

Those that say it is not act like it is a nudie bar or something....

The only thing that makes me uncomfortable there is their food....it's sucks ass.

Actually, I'm semi not allowed (welcomed) back in Hooters, I've only been twice. The second time I went it was "watergun day" and all of the waitresses thought it was cute to carry those little cheap water gun pistols and shoot the customers when they weren't looking. I thought it was funny, I even got shot a few times by this really cute waitress.

Well, I talked up this other cutie and convinced her to give me her water gun. This way when that other waitress shot me again at least I'd be armed and ready to counterattack :). My rationale was to shoot for the head area as I thought they might take offense to their clothes getting wet, even though that was preferred by every guy at our table.

Long story short the girl shot me again and I shot her back. It hit her mainly in the hair and some on the face. She went livid. At first I thought she was joking but she was PISSED. She slammed down her tray and stomped off.

The other waitress came up and said "What the heck happened?". we all told her and she informed us that the girl was mad that I "ruined her makeup".......okay, whatever, it didn't really do anything. She looked the same to us. But the nice waitress said the girl I shot was "really really pissed". I gave my gun back to the nice waitress and told her to send my apologies along and that to also tell the girl I'd like to apologize in person if that was okay with her.

About five minutes pass and I along with my three friends are still there downing a few beers. The waitress I shot comes out with a pitcher full of water. Now I think nothing of this as some people are drinking water, so I assume it's for refills. she shoots me a "eat sh1t and die look" but goes in the other direction behind me.

the next thing I know I see the expression on my friends faces change to a look of shock and that's when a sudden splash of a pitcher full of water came pouring down my back.

I wanted to clock that girl soooo bad, but I didn't feel like going to jail that day so I just got up, took my ownage like a man, and walked out of there.

I believe that story is legend there now and part of the local history of that location.

I ate there once with some friends of mine and I thought the food sucked hard. I wouldn't go there again.

If I want to see scantily clad women I'll go to the beach.
