I've got a laptop, standard inch screen (haven't got a ruler to hand but it's a Fujitsu lifebook), I'd like to be looking at something like a standard 19 inch screen

The product I want, is a 'mountable' display that I can place in front of the laptop screen, with the mountable screen being 19 inches or something. Could plug into the HDMI port or something.

Basically, just a screen that would be the same thickness as the laptop screen, that I lean onto the existing display

If it doesn't exist, could someone invent it?

The laptop I'm using ATM has a WSXGA + TFT 15.4' resolution 1680x1050 screen. It's pretty good. I run a 14" Lenovo laptop into a 23" external monitor (off a minidock)... way way superior. I also have a 19" monitor off that mini-dock for occasion multi-monitor support (usually I just use that 23" and leave the 19" off).

You could look into a portable monitor which is resembles a tablet but is used for display only....there are a bunch of 15.6" 1080p ones on Amazon....it has its own stand but I guess you lean it over your existing screen (velcro might help it from slipping)....

I have two of these15.6" 4k screens that I travel with for work. A bit quirky but the screen real estate makes it worth it (also have to travel with a portable docking station to use both at the same time - I can use one without needing the docking station though)...
