Sorry if wrong forum, just wondering if this product existed.. If not, we need to develop it.
I am looking for a websystem that is similar to to email list management. However it works a little differently than a simple email list.
What I am looking for is this.
A web interface that someone could login and pick topics that they are interested in. For example I will use the following:
WebSoftware
\_[.]PhpBB
\_[.]Mambo
WebSites
\_[.]I-hacked.com
When the user logins, and checks for example PhpBB, it gives another drop down to notify on:
[X]PhpBB
\_[.]Security Warnings
\_[.]New releases
\_[.]News
So say user selects Security Warnings & New releases. They will now receive emails whenever a security bulletin has been released.
Now, who manages this information? Each individual responsible for the application. I know that I use so many technologies out there, that there is probably constant updates/activities/etc that I am missing out on, because I don't have time to login and read several forums every day. A email address could be setup that the app owner could mail for example submission@whateversite.com subject PhpBB/Security [body][/body]
Then anyone subscribed to Phpbb security would receive the mail.
I think this (if not already out there) could be the next type of Blog/Wiki etc..
