Does this price sound reasonable for new tires?

I drive an 05 Subaru Legacy GT, and am finally ditching the piece of shit RE92s that come stock. I'm picking up a set of ContiExtremeContact tires for $129 per tire, and it comes out to 634.99 altogether after mounting/balancing/4 wheel alignment, etc. This is at Town Fair Tire, btw. Does this sound like a decent price? I know they take price matches, and Tire Rack has 'em for $101, but I figure even if I bring it to their attention, they'll get me on "comparable services" regardless.

tire sizes... i think those are for 17's

tires and a car alignment seems decent to me.

i normally view 17's tires as about 100$-125 each, $50 to mount/balance and then about $60-125 to align the car.... now you do know the 4 wheel alignment is typically upsell... yea it will help but it is not always needed. I would say price match the 100$ diffrence in tires, find out how much they are charging you for a alignment and price shop around for the alignment.

Sorry, forgot to mention the tire size. 215/45-17. Instead of charging me $89 for the alignment, they knocked it down to $29.

$516 for the Tires
$51.80 for balancing
$11.80 valve stems
$29 4 wheel alignment (Figured I might as well with the new tires, and I haven't had an alignment since I've bought it)

I'm going down on Friday for payment/installation, so I'll see what they can do about PMing Tire Rack.

Are you a memeber at Costco? Great service and great prices on tires, although the can't do the alignment.

seems right.....

Although...town fair tire has gone down the tubes. They used to be awesome, but they suck now. They tell you they will be done in 1 hour and it takes them 3 hours. PMing them is horrible too. Instead of PMing, they will try to talk you into buying what they have in stock. If you are pming what they do not have in stock, they will come up with some bogus excuse to make the price go up as they did with you (mount and balancing is supposed to be free from them). Just watch, since you are buying a "non-stock" item, they may try to convince you that they cannot be involved in the manufacture warrenty.

I was gonna go back there, but they tried screwing me over. I wanted to Dunlop Sport Signatures for my car (awesome tires BTW). I went in and after I mentioned price match, he started saying bogus stuff about how those tires were not a good fit for my car and that they can't PM them because of the UPS shipping (een though shipping was free).

Lots of places have caught up with PMing too. They now have two prices listed. If you PM, you will get the mount without buying tires from them price, which is usually something like $30 a tire. I ended up going to hogan tire, they would not allow the PM, but they discounted all my services and tires.

$29.99 is a great price for a REAL 4 wheel alignment. ask for print out of before and after to ensure they don't just set the toe and go .

i would get them to relist the price first and then try to get some type of price match so that way they cant raise up the prices on the other things.

also, there is tire disposal fee and small things...
