I think the lens used makes it look a little odd. Don't know the name, maybe fish-eyed? The middle objects are closer while the ones at the side slightly move backward.

Looks like a real picture that has been photoshopped. When was the last time the sky opened up right dead center in a pic? If it was 100% real, cudos to the phtographer! Damn nice.

Visit the tropics and you'll see sky like that. I would say they are at the top judging from the snow. I'm sure at ground levels, snow isn't very common in Afghanistan.
