Does this photo play tricks on anyone's eyes?

I took this photo a few months ago, and just finally got around to putting a frame on it and sticking it in my gallery. Once I put the frame on it, it looks like it is about to bust on the sides....like it's bulging outwards.

I just thought it was a neat effect, I'm not really sure what in the picture is causing the eyes to see it that way.

Yea, I see it too, its kinda like looking at the distortion of lens (ie the Canon 17-85 IS USM). I think its an example of how apt your screen name is ;)

Just curious, what lens did you use?

:Q It looks as if the clouds were moving towards the person looking at the pic. Then "parting" in the middle and going in oposite directions (to the left and right side of the frame). Cool.

seems to me like the effect is due to the box shadow around the frame - it is slightly curved and creates the illusion that the frame is bulging slighly.

I cropped out the frame and shadow only and the bulge effect goes away.

i still see the bulge a bit. its not as pronounced as with the frame, but its still there, especially in the lower left.
