Thanks everyone. This should work for everyone using firefox, everyone with Office installed, and everyone using OS X. I was looking for some real-world data.
hmm...office 2003, xpsp2, IE6, it doesn't work.

Did you do a custom installation of Office and turn off the fonts or something?
Nope, full installation.

Odd, your Office or IE might be broken.

characters 6, 8, 9 don't show up correctly. (unless they're question marks :p)
im thinking number 7 perhaps as well, it shows up as a U with diaeresis (like in Tuev).. which is a pretty common one to show up when the actual symbol fvcks up.

forgot to add:
firefox
no office - open office though

There are no special fonts used in this file. It uses a single font (Arial Unicode MS) for all characters. The font comes standard with Microsoft Office. Example characters:
? ? ? ? O ? ü ?? ?45? ?67?
It's fairly easy to include characters into regular text, such as this example for v2. Or an example with the ¶ symbol.

Win XP Pro, SP2. IE 6.0. Office XP with all updates. I get 13 rectangles. Not all rectanges are the same though.
