Does this mobo have IDE?

So, will a standard ATA hard drive work on the PATA connection. I'm confused because my current mobo has 2 ATA IDE channels and 1 PATA IDE channel.

PATA is commonly referred to as ATA. The description says it has 2x PATA 133. So that is two 40 pin ATA connectors.

Oh and your current motherboard has 2 ATA and 1 PATA? Do you mean 2 SATA and 1 PATA? Or possible 2 PATA or 1 SATA?

PATA = ATA = IDE != (not equals) SATA

1 PATA/ATA/IDE channel supports up to 2 devices. That motherboard has 2 PATA/ATA/IDE channels, so you can plug in a total of 4 devices.

Nope.
I have:

3x IDE (manual says: 2 ATA and 1 PATA)
4x SATA

It later says more specifically:

IDE Channel 1: ATA
IDE Channel 2: ATA
IDE Channel 3: PATA IDE RAID

Oh, that just means that your first 2 IDE channels don't support RAID, but your 3rd IDE channel does support RAID.

Oh, thank you. That clears things up.

Techincally, yes, SATA IS a type of IDE... And so is PATA. IDE is a group that includes both PATA and SATA. Slipped my mind for a second -_-;

I have a personal complaint against that Via Chipset. I dont know the technical details, but something about it having problems allocating resources for the AGP slot. Basically when you turn the computer on, the video card may or may not turn on. Very frustrating, especialy for my 50something year old mom that this computer is for. So, I ended up going with an MSI nForce 2 mobo, which ive heard great things about.
