Does this mean Fedex thinks I got my package?

Maetryx here,

According to the Fedex tracking site, my package (an Apple iPod Shuffle 1GB + arm band) "arrived at Fedex destination" yesterday morning at 8:15AM. WTF is a "Fedex destination"? I certainly didn't get anything. I'm going nuts waiting for my new toy.

Delivered at of 3:53PM local time on 03/31/2005 :)

North Pole, Alaska (wikipedia entry) <-- not tinyurl, in case it matters to someone.
About 1500, but actually a lot more since that is just the city limits, which are small.
And of course this isn't the *actual* North Pole. Just a municipality named North Pole with Christmas themed street light posts and a big statue of Santa overlooking the highway.

Wow! When you see it "Out For Delivery" or "On Delivery Truck" it may still be a couple of days because of where you live. Have you ever seen a "Fedex" truck in your town? That would be a good sign. Heck, it might even get subcontracted out to a moonlighting Royal Canadian Mountie? Does your mail get delivered by dogsled?

Patience, :p

Their tracking SUCKS! It's always delayed, and they pull this crap where they say it's delivered when it really isn't. Your mileage may vary where your individual UPS, FedEx and DHL drivers are concerned, but as a rule, FedEx tracking SUCKS from one end of the country to the other!

It was an accident with a time machine and a condom (why I live up here). Well, no time machine. With a time machine I could have recovered from the accident with the condom. Does that make it a tiime machine accident? Not having one?

Okay, actually I live in North Pole beacuse housing is cheaper there than in Fairbanks. Ha ha! That totally begs the question. I like it. I moved here 15 years ago to go to college and barring 1.5 years in Oregon in the mid nineties, have lived here my entire adult life.

I seriously want to move to Alaska.

As long as I can get broadband anyway.

Now, if I could just convince the GF....

I have 640/320 DSL at my house. Availability in the interior of Alaska is hit or miss. For example, I can't get cable TV at my house, and it is available like 1/2 a mile away. Just today a good friend that lives about 5 miles away from me (not further into the boonies either) was told that DSL wasn't available at his house. Having said that, we do have Alaska Wireless Cable which can provide a signal to just about anywhere in Fairbanks/North Pole. OTOH, you could move to Anchorage which is a bustling modern city of 350,000+ and has all the regular telecomm options of any Pacific Northwest city of its size.

Oh, and I wanted to respond to this. I hope you're wrong. I got an iPod Shuffle because I started going to the gym in January (New Year's resolution and all) and I *love* iTunes. I own 1000± CDs and have been happily importing them into iTunes and listening to music that had been collecting dust for years in a lot of cases. (<-- ha ha, pun!)

The solution (iPod Shuffle) perfectly fit my problem (needing music specifically for the gym, owning a bunch of CDs that I like, being in love with iTunes software). I'm going to get one of those Sony cassette adapters for my truck and save a few hundred dollars on a car stereo too.

I sincerely worry about some of you, and how you function in society when you're away from your machine.
