so i have a 20" 4:3 lcd right now, and i have my xbox hooked up to it. the closest res the 360 outputs is 1024x768 to maintain the correct aspect ratio. most games just letterbox the picture and it's pretty hot. i'm thinking about picking up a 19" widescreen tho, because i can bump up the res to 1280x768 (16:10). in my head i'm thinking this will look even better because it's a higher resolution, but it's still upscaling either way. right now i think the picture looks better than on my 42" plasma, but it might be because my eyes are getting old.

anyway, whatcha think? will the slightly higher res look better?

It might look a little better, but if you can run the 360 in the monitors native resolution, it will be much better.

I do the same thing with my 360 and a Viewsonic VX922, running at 1280x1024, and it sure looks pretty.

that's my other choice, going down to a 5:4 19" lcd and running it at 1280x1024. that's about the only choice i see to run native unless i want to get a 17" westinghouse widescreen lcd, which i don't really want to do.
