what's the model? like 93000 or 105000. it's stamped on the cowl.

Google doesn't help much, but that looks like the only logical way it could go.

Can you post a pic of the other end of the linkage, at the bars?

Is this the Craftsman riding mower? If yes, post the Sears model number.

Well if it comes off when your using it is on wrong. At least that's how I would approach the problem.

No.. Take a pic at the lever. The other end of the cable. Can you give us more details on what's happening and what you're trying to do? Didn't you have a thread about this mower with carb cleaning issues?
