I doubt it. Best thing to do is get 2 GB of RAM or reduce the texture quality to medium or low if you are bottlenecked by only 1 GB.

Agreed.

It won't hurt to try, but nothing is guaranteed.

Author doesn't seem that good though.

Doesn't show the '\' character on many pages, bad hyperlinks, "you been warned! omglol!," "windows xp or 2000 run 99999999999 background tasks in the background.", capitalization errors.

Guy definitely needs a spellchecker.

Doesn't seem like that good of a source for information...

well, lets just say bf2 doesn't work after I tweaked it, I think I have to reinstall it.

I dunno about legit but it can't hurt to do those things. Some (like tweak BIOS, install good video drivers, run antispyware) are a good idea in general, not just for BF2.

It will improve performance, but not 'lag', doesn't lag refer to network latency?

Wow before even looking at the page I can tell this guy is a complete idiot, especially if he considers lag to be low framerates or stuttering. Kind of reminds me of this post I seen about WoW:

"can anyone tell me which sever is da best with less lags" "ip help where ca i find da ip"

So I skimmed some of the tips and LOL a page or two in he recommends DISABLING THE PAGE FILE. But through the registry too which he warns is pretty tough stuff, Does he really have a usable computer to play games with if he takes that advice himself?? He considers changing the AGP aperture size a hard thing to do, but pays off because of such huge performance gains. Man this is just hilarious! His spelling and grammar just crap too. I could just keep going. IRQ prioritizing? WTF? And the last final tip which you think would be the best... well its poorly stated and has bad advice in it.

Some of them are somewhat useful in general, but there are much better and trusted sites to find tips like this.

Now for something useful, if you want to improve BF2 performance with settings, check out the RAM usage link in bob4432's sig, and the tweakguide for BF2 on Tweakguides.com. The Low-Med-Hi screenshots are good comparisons to see which settings you can lower with little loss in quality.

well, I have to redo all those steps so I can play it again, I heard updating punkbuster does decrease lag though.
