Next time you see a crazy dude throwing rocks at cops, you should go up to him and take care of it yourself.

Because you're pro.

:awe:

I could 95% one shot hit the crazy dude with a rock and it would be one and done. Most rock throwers are amateurs who couldn't hit a train. I have a decade of training though.

Now, if said rock throwing crazy dude was holding a trash can lid he would be skilled too and my odds would anywhere from a bit to a lot lower.

People in P&N tend to be more staunchly in one camp or the other and will defend that viewpoint unto death. "La, la, la...I'm not listening to your liberal/conservative lies!" No productive debate can occur in P&N.

I look forward to the day when I can go 24 hours without reading 3 different, new stories about cops killing or beating or abusing people and facing no consequences. Its gotten to the point where I stop even checking to see if the cop get in trouble for it, because they never do.

I just hope cops realize that the public hates you for a reason. It's not just "the media" that is perpetuating this stereotype, people interact with cops on a daily basis. Every cop I meet has this patronizing, entitled attitude when they address a civilian. Fvck that, and fvck you. If a cop's spouse, sibling, parent, friend, whatever wants a favor from me or anybody I know, too bad. In fact, I will go out of my way to screw over any cop or anyone who is related to a cop. Many of my friends agree, if not outright then in sentiment.

That's how we will get back at you a$$holes. Every burger you eat will be coated in snot. You internet connection will oddly go down all the time. Your power will go out, often for no reason at all. Your cable reception will be terrible, despite the guy coming in to fix it that day. When you call a taxi and they see your number, nobody will come. Worst of all, when that EMT you were a dick too has to pick your porker a$$ up, maybe he doesn't hustle as fast as he would have? Maybe he drops the IV bag? The world will close it's doors to you and you will be left to your violence and your criminals.

You should call 911 and recite this to them so it's on the record. Then mail a certified copy to your local police station. Maybe it will make a difference in their attitude (towards you when you call for help.)

Just did. You know you can pull the SIM card out of a cell, and call 911, and there is no way to trace it? I did.

Well then you didn't really do it, did you? You're advocated dropping the IV of a wounded cop to get back at him for all of the terrible abuses they commit against society, but you can't even go on the record that you are against it?

You social warrior, you.

this is what happens when you hire war vets to be cops, they think they can act like they are still in afghan/iraq and can just wantonly kill, just like that dude that shot chris kyle. they should ban vets from being cops

Those of you inclined to consider rocks as deadly weapons that justify a shooting, I'm willing to conduct an experiment. We'll stand thirty feet apart. You get three rocks of your own choosing as to size and shape. I get a standard issue police baton. Whoever is left standing after five minutes wins.

Btw, I have no idea if all this guy had was rocks. It sort of looked like he reached for his waist there at the end. Think I'll wait for the report on this one.

Ah, the old "reaching for his waist" defense. You know, that part of the body where the hands naturally fall... :D

Let's just hope that the investigation and/or decisions made are fair and firm.

At first it seemed excessive. I thought at first maybe he was turning to give himself up. But he makes that move to his waist and them brings his hands forward. Feels like a situation that's going to go down as regrettable but won't involve criminal charges. I'd like to think they'd wait until they have visual confirmation of a gun. But in the heat of the moment, a guy makes a move like that, I can't say how long I'd be able to wait before firing either.

I guess what I"m saying is I find it really hard to believe they shot him for throwing rocks. If they did then they should be tried and convicted of murder.

Can anyone give me the statistics on police officers killed by thrown rocks? Anyone? Bueller?

Irrelevant. The cops don't have to be in mortal danger before they can use deadly force. The bottom line is that a large rock thrown at someone's head is a real danger. They tried non-lethal force first, which didn't work. If they shot the guy while running, that might be an issue, but it appears that they shot him as he was trying to throw another rock.

I have no problem with that.

That's not how it works. Why should the officer have to risk potentially significant injury to himself or others? Ultimately, the rock might not be as effective a weapon as something else, but that doesn't mean the officer isn't justified in using lethal force to stop the attacker, especially after non-lethal alternatives failed.
