I have had this 7900gt superclock for just a couple days. video
it just started doing this...a little bit last night..but then tons today...i ran temp checks and it never gets above 60C. I left the computer on went to lunch (20 minutes) and came back. restarted oblivion and no problems since. When it was happening before I ran 3dmark06..the playable demo...and the same thing happend with that aswell (i wanted to run a game with HDR is why i used that)

anyone know why this happend...or intermittently happens? i would just rma no question if it was consistent...but it isnt. right now the game runs perfect. seems a little faster than before aswell o_O

anyway... thanks for any input

Last time I saw something like that was when the memory overclock on my 7800GT was too high....

i get that in UT2k4 if my Core is clocked to high... pull it back about 5-10MHz and it goes away... sounds like your superclock is a little to super for its own good.

ahh..it makes sense. this card's memory is highly overclocked straight from the factory but no heatsink or anything covers it... o_O
i think its just a defective card then.

the weird thing is tho..it doesnt happen often...just rare occasion it seems...

Get an aftermarket cooler for your card and I'll bet you'll be fine. I put a Zalman VF700CU on mine and it's wonderful. GPU is 10C cooler, the memory chips are cooled, and the sound is much much quieter.

My card is an XFX 7900GT 520/1500 so it's highly overclocked right from the factory also.

the temperature of the card didnt even seem remotlly hot. 60C...my old 7800gt superclock would hit 70C on occasion..this one doesnt go over 62C. I just have a hard time believing an aftermarket cooler would make anydifference...i think its just defective. free to RMA and i already got approved..and they do cross shipping...so im never without a card..and they pay shipping both ways....ill just RMA it.

I can't remember if those lines come from core of memory overclocking, but yeah, either you've got inadequate cooling or your clocks are too high. And if the GPU isn't going over 62C, I'd blame the memory. Since you are running at stock speed, you should get an RMA.
