Does this image flicker on your LCD ?

anyone else with their LCD notice any flickering ?! (I'm using a 1905FP rev a03 via DVI on a geforce 6800 at 1280x1024 60hz)

if it doesn't flicker on your LCD, make sure the image isn't being shrunk to a smaller size, in other words, scaled down.

edit 2: oddly, sometimes this image does not flicker on my 1905FP, but if I move it to a different spot, the whole blue block will start flickering, and if I move it to another different spot, I can get it to stop flickering. (moving it while the picture is not maximized over the whole screen)

basically the *whole* blue block flickers in some locations on the screen, while in other locations, it does not.

edit 3: I originally noticed it when making a new shortcut in WinXP.

That's where the blue block is from.

hmm, it still flickers for me in picture/fax viewer, unless I have the picture shrinked, then it of course, doesn't flicker due to loss of detail

Both of them look just fine for me windowed or maximized in Internet Explorer, Paint, and XP Picture Viewer. I'm on a Dell 17" 1704PFVt running at 1280x1024.

These fine checkerboards typically flicker on LCDs that are connected on analog VGA. On DVI they're flawless.

then i guess that would be the reason... my lcd is connected by analog cause i still haven't baught my new graphic card...

Flicker only occurs on 6-bit dithering or frame rate control LCDs (and VGA worsens it). You won't see it if your LCD uses is true 8-bit, and you're connected by DVI. I see no flicker (ViewSonic VP930b, DVI), just an eye-gouging pattern. It also depends on your settings, as your monitor may be able to display that color without dithering even though it's only 6-bit. It could also be your graphics card outputting a bad DVI signal perhaps. One of the possible panels in the 1905FP is notorious for dithering.

please do a fullscreen of the image if it doesn't flicker on your LCD.

That's not going to show anything different than if you just clicked on the link.

as I stated above (I'll edit my OP too), oddly, sometimes this image does not flicker on my 1905FP, but if I move it around a little, it will start flickering, and if I move it around a little more, I can get it to stop flickering. (moving it around while the picture is not maximized over the whole screen)

but anyways.

No Flicker at all using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer@ max size. Using a 6-bit Acer AL1912 16ms LCD with an analog connector.

When moving, it flickers because the pixels are still transitioning (happens on CRTs slightly too on those websites that have alternating lines).

@xtknight: no no no.

I'm not talking about it flickering while I'm moving the image, at all.

It seems that, in some spots of the screen it won't flicker, and in other spots it will.

running at 1280x1024 using the 1600x1200 pic, it's a little easier to reproduce this.

You're telling at some point in time the left top of it will be flickering and the bottom right of it won't, for instance?? While not moving? Bad DVI signal I suspect.

am always referring to the *whole* blue block.

it won't flicker in some spots, while in other spots it will.

rather weird.

Set resolution to 640x480 at 60 Hz (and set scaling burden on monitor, not graphics card) to reduce needed bandwidth to 18.4 MHz from (78.6 MHz at 1280x1024/60Hz). Then see if it still happens.

running at 640x480 @ 60hz , it does not flicker at all.

note: I run 1280x1024 @ 60hz

so it seems to be caused partly or completely by bandwidth issues.

blasted nvidia DVI issues.

edit: going to test at 1024x768 @60

ok, at 1024x768 @ 75hz I get no flickering, or none I can see.

and, yes, I did move the blue block around, trying to get it to flicker in various spots.

Very likely then a TMDS transmitter issue on your video card (not putting out nearly enough bandwidth by any stretch of the imagination (it's supposed to be reliable up to 165 MHz)). It could be that the monitor scaling it is obscuring the effects of the flickering a bit but I really doubt it. What brand of GF6800? My old Leadtek 6800NU was fine in DVI.

@xtknight: AGP EVGA Geforce 6800 128mb non-ultra, stock clock speeds, not unlocked. so all stock.
purchased: between jan-feb or jan-march of 2005

This vid card is in my primary system, thats been completely stable thus far for all these months, games (newer, yes), etc.

I'll test the LCD with the other box running a eVGA geforce 6600 GT (yeah, yet another eVGA)
