Hi ,

I has a very wierd occurence with my 2 PC's ... i dont know if its normal.

Seee whenever im like in a website or something where i scroll up and down a page ... i can hear the fan getting quieter when i scroll really fast up & down ... then when i stop the fan gets louder  ... it does this when i open applications as we'll ?:)

does this happen to anyone else ... its the CPU fan thats doing it ... ive turned all the other fans off ... its like when im doing something like scrolling or apps the CPU rpms go up ?

if you have easyscroll (?) turned on in IE, it'll use a *lot* of processor. if you have a resource meter open, it should shoot up when you scroll.

Yeah I have noted that it does increase CPU usage noticably....if I am multitasking it sometimes crackles the sound on graphic intensive pages....but never had it effect the fan....

Temp controlled fan?....although I doubt it could react that quickly of course.

the fan has no temp probes ... and the weird thing is , is does it with my intel PC as we'll although i use the same mouse and key board and monitor .

It has started doing it for no reason now ... it just increases and decreases rpms ?

I think i'll change the fan tonigh , but the fact it does it on another computer with a compltely different fan and heatsink make me wonder ?

edit : omg

I just tried scrolling while the task maneger was open in windows and it puts the CPU usage to 100% in like a split second and stays there while im scrolling :( ... how can i turn this off ?

My CPU fan isnt even plugged into the CPU header ... i run it off a 4pin Molex ... and i have a case fan plugged into the CPU header ... because my CPU fan runs faster on the Molex.

Are you sure your computer isn't just clicking through the speakers?

My machine clicks whenever I open WinDVD, no clue why.

tools -> options -> advanced options
uncheck "use smooth scrolling"

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it really annoys you, swap out the power supplies for something beefier

Hi ,

You know whats stopped it .... i am running my HD with SuSE Linux 8.2 ... it does it when i run windows ?

So it must have something to do with that scrolling feature ... because the CPU meter dosent go wayy upwhen i scroll in Linux . :D

EDIT :

Im very sure its not the speakers ... you can actually see the rpms go up in my Winbond Hardware Monitor ... anbd it does it now ewven when im not scrolling ... it seems to do it whenever i do anything ... like the CPU fan is being drained ... so the CPU fan is plugged into one of the main molex plugs , so i guess my whole PSU is being drained.
