Is there something out there that is similar to X-Com (turn based tactical combat) that has a PvE co-op mode?

Preferably something where each person has their own small squad, with LAN co-op (but an online mode that supports playing with only who I want would work), and/or that has come out in the past ~10 years.

Divinity Original Sin has co-op turn based tactical combat in a PVE environment.
There have been quite a few newer games with turn based tactical combat the last few years, but D:OS is the only one that I know has a CO-OP mode.

Frozen Synapse fits the bill. The "Red" expansion adds co op mode, and only 1 player needs to buy it. It's got a neat twist where each turn you give orders to your units which are then executed simultaneously with the enemy's. For co op, you can share your plans to your partner, come to an agreement, then execute simultaneously.
